Helping the Elderly Stay in Their Home
The Northwest Florida Agency on Aging (NWFLAAA) can connect you with a variety of resources to help you or your loved one stay in their home. We coordinate services designed for eligible adults age 60+ and adults with disabilities. These programs allow people to live with dignity and independence in their own homes and communities.
Some services are provided directly by the NWFLAAA, but most services are provided by our lead agencies in each county.

Programs provided:
- The Alzheimer's Disease Initiative (ADI)
- The Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative provides in-home and facility-based respite services to address the special needs of individuals suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and related memory disorders (e.g. stroke, Parkinson’s) and their caregivers. The program serves individuals age 18 and older.
- Community Care for the Elderly (CCE)
- Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) is a program for frail elders, age 60 and older. CCE services make it possible for individuals to live independently in their own homes. Eligibility is based, in part, on a client’s ability to perform certain daily tasks essential for independent living, such as meal preparation, bathing or grooming.
- Home Care for the Elderly (HCE)
- Home Care for the Elderly provides a monthly subsidy payment to assist a relative or other caregiver to keep a low-income elder in their own home. The elder must be at risk of nursing home placement. Other support services are available.
- Older Americans Act Services (Federally Funded)
- Older Americans Act Programs provide a variety of in-home and community-based services to maintain and enhance quality of life. While all individuals 60 years of age and older are eligible, services are targeted to low-income older individuals, including low-income minority individuals, older individuals with limited English proficiency and older individuals residing in rural areas. Title III-B includes in-home and other supportive services. Title III-C includes Congregate Meals and Home-Delivered Meals services.
The Elder Helpline is the place to start for help if you are a senior, an adult living with a disability, or a caregiver. The Elder Helpline will connect you with the resources available in our community through local agencies, services and programs.
