Home Care for the Elderly (HCE)

The Home Care for the Elderly (HCE) encourages the provision of care in family-type living arrangements in private homes on a not-for-profit basis as an alternative to nursing home or other institutional care. The case management agency coordinates services and subsidies for HCE clients and their caregivers. Approved caregivers receive a basic subsidy for caring for the client, and may receive a special subsidy for other necessary services and essential supplies. Caregivers may be approved for up to three HCE clients in their home.

HCE clients must be age 60+, at risk of nursing home placement and financially eligible. The caregiver must also meet eligibility requirements.
