Community Care for the Elderly
Community Care for the Elderly (CCE) provides a wide range of community-based services to assist
functionally impaired, age 60+ elders to live in the least restrictive environment suitable to
their needs.
With the separation of case management and services, many new vendors are now participating in
this program. Case Management agencies continue to determine the client's needs and to coordinate
delivery of services.
A co-payment is still required for all services received based on the individual client's ability
to pay. A sliding co-pay schedule developed by the Department of Elder Affairs is utilized.
Senate Bill 642, enacted July 1, 2003, added a secondary prioritization factor for low-income elders.
If two individuals are assessed at the same priority and at risk of nursing home placement,
priority should be given to the individual with the lesser ability to pay.
