Medicaid Waiver

The Medicaid Waiver provides services to eligible elders and disabled adults with the objective of preventing premature nursing home placements. A wide variety of services are available such as personal care, adult day health care, consumable medical supplies and homemaker. Annual funding, based on each area's population of Medicaid eligible 60+ population, is allocated to each planning and service area by the Department of Elder Affairs.
PSA 1 has a total of 36 agencies providing services under the Medicaid Waiver.

Assisted Living Waiver

The Assisted Living Waiver (ALW) allows Medicaid funding to be used to pay for the services component of assisted living in a facility. To be eligible for the waiver program, recipients receive SSI, have income under 300% of the federal SSI benefit or, for aged and disabled applicants, have income under 90% of the federal poverty level. Only facilities with an ECC or limited nursing services license may participate in the waiver program. PSA 1 currently has 11 facilities participating in the waiver program. All facilities undergo monitoring reviews to ensure program compliance.

To receive services under the Medicaid waiver, the person must be 60 years of age or older and meet one of the following criteria: Medicaid Waiver Criteria information
